Brazil's generic pesticide registration process is speeding up as authorities promised. They granted eight approvals last month for the manufacture of generic pesticides. Approvals in the last three months doubled the number of generic registrations to 20, covering 17 active ingredients.

The Commission's Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General report followed the impact assessment carried out on the European Commission's proposed revision of the Directive.

Russian illegal agrochemical trade grows

Russia's counterfeit agrochemical market is growing, according to the country's Customs Service, the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA) reports. Last year, the Customs Services found 1,628 counterfeit products, up from 390 in 2005.
