The European Commission has invited comments on Poland's plans to introduce legislation that would allow the country to ban the cultivation of genetically modified crops. The new rules would conflict with EU law and, therefore, Poland is seeking a derogation from the EU GMO registration Directive (2001/18). The Commission is seeking comments by August 27th 2007 and has six months to consider Poland's request....
