Russian authorities have destroyed "tonnes" of counterfeit products

Russia's counterfeit agrochemical market is growing, according to the country's Customs Service, the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA) reports. Last year, the Customs Services found 1,628 counterfeit products, up from 390 in 2005. The Russian government puts the level of counterfeiting in 2006 at 10%, while other European government and industry estimates put the proportion of illegal and counterfeit products in Russia at 5-7%, the ECPA adds. Illegal pesticide products feature in all regions, says Vladimir Popovitch, deputy director of the federal agency for veterinary and phytosanitary supervision, the Rosselkhoznadzor. Authorities have destroyed "tonnes" of counterfeit products, he adds....
