SLI: Sweden will benefit economically if it plants GM crops in the next 10-15 years

Sweden will benefit economically if it plants genetically modified crops in the next 10-15 years, according to a report by the Swedish Institute for Food and Agricultural Economics, the SLI. The study concludes that Swedish GM crop cultivation would be "profitable" for its farmers, the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) reports. The four focus crops are: maize, potatoes, oilseed rape and sugar beet. A switch from conventional to GM crops would raise farmers' profitability by 4-12%, the FAS translates the report as saying....
