EPO: The invention lacks novelty

The European Patent Office (EPO) has revoked Monsanto's patent, EP 301749 B1, for a genetic modification process for soybean plants. The decision followed an appeal by Syngenta and the Canadian Environmental Technology Centre (ETC). The EPO's Technical Board of Appeal accepted the view of Syngenta and the ETC that the invention lacked novelty....
