Slow approvals to hit Brazil farming

Sindag: 'Speed it up'

A "sluggish" approval process for new agrochemicals is leaving Brazilian farming at risk of losing its competitiveness, a national agrochemical industry association says. There are around 30 pesticides based on new active ingredients in the Brazilian approval process, the Brazilian agrochemical industry trade union, the Sindag, says. A "large proportion of them" is already registered in countries "possessing stricter laws than our own". The association calls on the national authorities to adopt measures similar to those in "developed" countries....
