BAFU approval

The Swiss federal environment office, the BAFU, has approved two applications for the country's first field trials of genetically modified crops since its 2005 five-year moratorium on GM crop cultivation. The approval follows the applicants' submission of new data, which the BAFU demanded before approving the trials. Scientists at the Zurich University's Institute of Plant Biology and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), which will be collaborating on the project, submitted the applications last year (Agrow No 521, p 10). ....
