First-quarter boost for Dow AgroSciences

An early start to the European season resulted in significantly better first-quarter results for Dow AgroSciences than expected. Sales for the three-month period were up by 7.8% to a record $1,036 million. The increase was largely due to volume growth (+7%), while price rises made up about 1%. Pre-tax earnings were up by 30.6% to $282 million due to higher sales and structural cost reductions....
