Mounting pressure on the Brazilian operation

Members of two rural pressure groups occupied Syngenta facilities in Brazil earlier this month. Agrochemical production at the plant in Paulinia, Sao Paulo, was stopped. The plant was invaded by a group of around 80 members of the groups, the MST and the Via Campesina, the company says. Demonstrators from these organisations arrived, broke open the entrance gate and invaded the site, forcing the employees to leave, Syngenta told Agrow. The company "called the military police to ensure order and directed the security surveillance team [at the plant] not to put up resistance", it added....
