The US company, Ag Logic (Chapel Hill, North Carolina), is to delay the introduction of its insecticide/nematicide, Meymik 15G (aldicarb), until 2013. The December 2011 approval by the EPA did not allow time for introduction for the 2012 North American growing season, the company points out. The US EPA proposes granting the first residential use approval for Makhteshim-Agan Industries’ (MAI) insecticide, novaluron. It aims to register Rimon Supra 10EC as a spot or crack and crevice treatment against crickets. MAI received its first US approval for novaluron on greenhouse ornamentals in 2001 (Agrow No 387, p 26), with food-use approvals following in 2004 (Agrow No 449, p 22). The latest decision is open to public comment until January 27th.
The EPA has proposed the first US food-use approval of BASF/Nihon Nohyaku’s insecticide, metaflumizone. It was first registered in 2007 as a pet flea product and as Siesta fire ant bait for use on turf and ornamentals (Agrow No 536, p 15). The Agency plans to register Altrevin fire ant bait for use in citrus and nut orchards, grape vineyards and non-bearing stone and pome fruit orchards and nurseries. The decision is open to public comment until February 2nd.
Bayer CropScience has launched its ketoenol insecticide, Movento (spirotetramat 48 g/litre), in Italy. The suspension concentrate formulation is for use on over 20 crops including table grapes, grapevines, citrus, pome fruits, various vegetables, melons, cabbages and lettuces to control aphids and whiteflies.
