BASF has presented its foliar fungicide, Priaxor, in Argentina for use on citrus fruit. It is based on fluxapyroxad (trade-marked as Xemium), and pyraclostrobin (trade-marked as F500). Sipcam-Oxon’s US agrochemical business, SipcamAdvan (Durham, North Carolina), has introduced four turf fungicides incorporating its ETQ technology. The technology optimises turf quality and protects from ultra-violet light, the company points out. The four products are Echo Dyad (chlorothalonil), E-Scape (chlorothalonil + tebuconazole), Eclipse (iprodione) and Sipcam Clearscape (tebuconazole).

The US EPA has proposed the approval of two biopesticides based on Bacillus thuringiensis subsp galleriae strain SDS-502 from US biopesticide company Phyllom (Mountain View, California). GrubGone! The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has proposed the full approval of six insecticides based on DuPont’s cyantraniliprole (trade-marked as Cyazypyr) and conditional approval for two products combining cyantraniliprole and the neonicotinoid insecticide, thiamethoxam. Dow AgroSciences has received Canadian approval for its herbicide, Enlist Duo (2,4-D choline + glyphosate). It is the first country to register the herbicide for use on Dow’s genetically modified herbicide-tolerant Enlist crops. Sumitomo Chemical subsidiary Sumitomo Chemical Agro Seoul has launched the company’s rice herbicide, propyrisulfuron, in South Korea. Sumitomo Chemical’s US subsidiary, Valent USA Corporation (Walnut Creek, California), has confirmed the US approval of its seed treatment, Rizolex (tolclofos-methyl 500 g/litre), for use on maize, sorghum, soybeans, cotton and sugar beet. The US EPA proposes to approve US company Becker Underwood’s (now part of BASF) biochemical insecticidal seed treatment, Tariss (methyl jasmonate 0.037%), for the control of flea beetles on canola, rapeseed, mustard, safflowers, sunflowers and camelina (false flax). Argentina has authorised the commercial planting of BASF’s and the Brazilian agricultural research corporation, the Embrapa’s, imidazolinone herbicide-tolerant (CV127) Cultivance soybeans. The US EPA has established temporary tolerances for the use of the antibiotic, streptomycin, on grapefruit for the control of citrus canker (Xanthomonas citri). The US EPA has proposed the approval of Becker Underwood’s (part of BASF) biofungicide, Integral (Bacillus pumilus strain BU F-33 5%), for use as a seed treatment.
