Syngenta’s fourth-quarter crop protection sales grew by 11% in the final quarter of 2011 to $2,352 million. The rise was the same at constant exchange rates (CER) and came on the back of a strong final quarter in the Americas, especially in the north, and booming sales of non-selective herbicides. Indian company Meghmani Organics’ (Ahmedabad) agrochemical sales increased by 2.8% to Rs 915.1 million ($18.5 million at the current rate) in its third quarter ended December 31st 2011. A 13.3% rise in exports, which accounted for over 75% of sales, offset a 22.7% decline in domestic sales. Dow AgroSciences’ agrochemical sales in the fourth quarter of 2011 were boosted by a 17% increase in revenues in its Latin America region. The business contributed to record fourth-quarter and full-year sales for parent company Dow Chemical’s agricultural sciences segment and record fourth-quarter earnings, the company points out. United Phosphorus recorded an increase of 63.1% in agrochemical sales to Rs 17,013 million ($333 million at the current rate) in its third quarter ended December 31st 2011. Agrochemicals accounted for some 91% of the company's total sales of Rs 18,717 million ($367 million), which grew by 57.4%. Domestic sales accounted for a fifth of total revenues. The US company, Aceto (Lake Success, New York), recorded a 39.6% rise in crop protection sales to $5.8 million in the three months ended March 31st 2009. Sales for the first nine months of fiscal 2009 were up by 3.4% to $12.8 million. Third-quarter gross profit more than doubled to $1.8 million, while nine-month gross profit rose by 38.1% to $3.2 million. Cheminova recorded muted sales growth of 0.7% to DKK 1,437 million ($252 million at the current rate) in the first quarter of 2009. The increase was 3% at constant exchange rates.
