Syngenta has decided not to commercialise Canadian company Innovotech’s (Edmonton, Alberta) bactericidal seed treatment, Agress (oxysilver nitrate). Syngenta agreed to conduct North American trials with the seed treatment last year (Agrow No 588, p 3). The Belgian Tessenderlo Group’s US subsidiary, Tessenderlo Kerley Inc (TKI - Phoenix, Arizona), has acquired the global crop protection assets of Bayer CropScience’s carbaryl insecticide/acaricide business for an undisclosed amount. Bayer has retained the non-crop carbaryl business. Carbaryl is marketed under the Sevin brand and associated trade marks in 40 countries. Monsanto and Makhteshim-Agan Industries’ (MAI) US business, MANA Crop Protection, have extended their US herbicide promotion deal to include MANA’s cotton herbicide, Direx 4L (diuron). Several MANA products were included in Monsanto’s Roundup Ready Plus programme, which was started in 2010 (Agrow No 603, p 3). The UK agrochemical development company, Eden Research (Finstock, Oxfordshire), has entered into a regional licensing agreement with Environmental Solutions North Africa (ESNA) for Eden’s terpene-based pesticides. The deal covers professional applications in Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.
