Have you got the stomach for them? Mexican researches have developed carrots that could provide an edible vaccine against diarrhoea and cholera using a gene from the E. Coli bacterium

Transgenic carrot lines that could provide an edible vaccine against diarrhoea and cholera have been developed by Mexican researchers from the Institute for Scientific and Technological Research of San Luis Potosi (IPICYT).

Inserting a gene from the bacterium, Escherichia coli, produced carrots that induced antitoxin, systematic and intestinal immunity in mice, the researchers report in a paper in Plant Cell Reports.
