DuPont is commercialising molecular breeding technology that increases soybean yields by up to 12% per acre.

Accelerated Yield Technology (AYT) identifies genes that increase yield and incorporates them into elite soybean genetics. DuPont’s seed subsidiary, Pioneer Hi-Bred, is planning to introduce five varieties with the technology in time for the 2008 planting season.

“AYT allows us to take a giant step forward on our promise to deliver industry-leading improvements in soybeans”, says William Niebur, vice-president of DuPont crop genetics research and development.
