BCPC International Congress 2007: Around the exhibition

The BCPC International Congress saw a growing number of exhibitors from Asia Pacific, mainly generic product manufacturers, an indication on the type of markets that are currently bucking the business trend in crop protection.

As the urban population booms around the world, so is the demand for food and feed. The show attracted not only visitors from the developed world, but in particular, those in the developing world where food is not a lifestyle choice, but a necessity. The migration from agriculture to manufacturing means that fewer areas in the emerging regions are dedicated to farming, but more pressure is placed on these areas to produce reliable yields year after year. The technologies offered by the agrochemical and biotechnology companies could be of great help to these regions.
