November 2011 Patent Watch (Agrow Intelligence)
Insecticides took the lead in November with 27 published patent applications.
Herbicides followed with 26 and fungicides with 19. There were 11 additional
patent applications, of which eight were related to a
fungicidal/insecticidal composition, two to fungicides/herbicides and one to
a herbicide/insecticide application. Agrow Intelligence examined a selection
of 83 patent applications published during the month, from a total of 17
applicants.

Bayer CropScience was in the lead with a total of 33 published patent applications, of which ten were herbicidal, eight fungicidal and seven insecticidal in nature, with an additional patent related to a herbicidal/insecticidal composition and seven to fungicide/insecticide compositions. Syngenta followed with 11 insecticidal patents, five herbicidal, and one fungicidal patent application. BASF and Sumitomo Chemical followed with eight and six, respectively.

Particular activity was noticed within the patent applications from Syngenta, with five applications around a “method of controlling neonicotinoid resistant aphids”, and from Bayer with three applications on “fungicide hydroximoyl-heterocycle derivatives” and another three on “synergistic active substance combinations” of insecticidal nature.

Granted patents November 2011
There were 26 granted patents published in November 2011.
